Chapter Fourteen

I was in love. There was no question about this. Katrina was the woman I’d been searching for since I was a young man, even before the transformation. She was pure, beautiful, smart, interesting, warm, kind, and she seemed to connect with me all the ways I connected with her. We were one on a spiritual level. And last night had been amazing. It was beyond comprehension. I had never orgasmed so hard in my entire time on this earth. Sexual pleasure was one of the few human experiences that had only intensified with becoming a vampire.

I’d known that Katrina was pure. I knew that she was a virgin I think from the very start. I wasn’t consciously aware of it, but when she had mentioned it to me as things were getting heavy, I was not stunned by her admission. I’d more or less suspected it. And I was honored that she wanted me to be her first. I wanted it to be a magical experience for her. I needed to know that she was being taken care of and that she was living through something that she would always look back on fondly.

I was her first. I wondered if I might be her last as well. The connection we had was far more than just something that would be short term. I felt it deep down in my bones. I could sense how she was feeling, and I was reciprocating those same feelings.

After she fell deep asleep and I laid in bed listening to her for several minutes, maybe closer to an hour, I carefully slipped out of the bed. I grabbed a change of clothes and stepped out of the bedroom into the hallway where I got dressed. I was now wearing my dark jeans with my black t-shirt. It was my feeding outfit. I liked something that was so easily adaptable that I could easily blend in with a crowd, with the shadows, and I didn’t even stand out much under the bright moonlight. That was important if I was going to feed undetected.

I had a target in mind. Someone, I’d actually been researching for a while. A hitman named Ronald Simmons. He’d come to my attention through several newspaper articles about the hunt for the “Greenmont Slasher”. I was the only one who had apparently realized that the slasher was targeting mostly men who had some history and connections to organized crime. They were not necessarily players, so the cops did not really pay much attention. But the victims were guys who stepped into that world just enough to get into trouble by knowing too much. Eventually, they became liabilities. Those loose ends that had to be tied up.

I made my way down to the lobby and then stepped into the garage. I disarmed my security system and opened the door. I hopped in my four-door sedan, and within seconds I was pulling out of my driveway and heading towards a specific end of town.
